Introducing the THG76R/RK gear rack with splittable slide bearing

The World Horti Center puts Dutch horticulture innovations in the spotlight during the second Summer of Innovation. At the "clubhouse of horticulture", De Gier Drive Systems is introducing the latest gear rack for the toughest applications. Design and ease of installation were the most important criteria. We will give a presentation during an innovation session at this second edition.

Innovations continue
Dutch horticulture is known to be an innovative sector. Innovations contribute to better and more reliable harvests. Greenhouses are getting taller, wider and therefore much larger. Climate requirements within the greenhouse are also more and more stringent. Suppliers of drive systems must respond to all this and keep the drive systems to a bare minimum. More and larger windows with insect netting require different solutions.

A gear rack, but with a difference
Wouter Heezen, Sales and Marketing Director at De Gier: “The use of gear rack systems for truss rail ventilation is a well-established practice in horticulture. The introduction of the THG76R/RK adds something unique. It meets the demand for very heavy loads. The THG67R/RK is the only gear rack drive on the market that can handle up to 15.000 N. That is unprecedented. It also has a completely enclosed solid aluminium corrosion-free housing. A total of six caged ball bearings make the unit robust and efficient. The low drive torque of the THG76R/RK makes the system extremely efficient and keeps window gap differences very small. This makes the THG76R/RK very low-maintenance.”

Faster installation thanks to splittable slide bearing
When using the THG76RK for column mounting, the gear rack unit comes with a completely new column mounting kit. The clever design is reflected in the splittable bearing. Wouter Heezen: “The bearing consists of two shells and is mounted on a steel carrier. The fasteners are fully integrated into the plastic. This prevents any parts from falling during installation. The column mounting kit with its splittable bearing not only contributes to easy and efficient mounting of gear rack units, but also simplifies placement of the counter-air drive tube . Opening the upper shell makes room for the drive tube. Once the drive tube is installed, the bearing can be closed and fixated with one hand. The column mounting kit is complete and ready to install. This makes installation far easier.”

Highly versatile
The versatile splittable bearing can be used with all De Gier gear rack units for truss rail ventilation in both column and truss mounted systems. In this case, a separate slide bearing plate is provided with the splittable bearing. This loose splittable slide bearing is perfect for renovation projects, as broken slide bearings can easily be replaced with the splittable bearing without having to disassemble the drive tube.
